:: October ::

  pome

First the pomegranates and soon the winter . . . blame it on Persephone or Demeter, or hell, just go ahead and give Hades the credit. Summer lingered here, and the fall harvest was a bit early. We have just now slidden smoothly into a cool fall, with the melagrane appearing this October.

And now a cocktail recipe:  Combine one part pomegranate juice to two parts Prosecco. Throw in a few whole seeds to dress it up a bit. Serve chilled at any time of the day, guilt free. Pomegranate juice is good for you, afterall!

  5. Dana, you remind me of my nephew who says that eating a handful of tropical-flavored Skittles is the same as eating fruit salad. Salute!

  15. Prosecco is a hip drink, I've heard.

    But I'm not hip, I only drink oloroso type wines.

    (Your recipe reminds me a bit of the punch my mother used to make. I think I tasted my first wine then.)

  17. Thanks for the tip about the pomegranate spritzer. Will try in the summer. I think you could pretty much mix anything with prosecco and come up with something delish :)
