We made several trips to our local Festa Della Zucca over the past week. We've seen this festival grow from a small tent of locals to a rowdy and crowded large tent with a wooden floor...still mostly of locals, just in the matter of a couple of years.
(How you like that comparison? I'm tired.)
While I don't have any photos of it, the offerings were simply divine: tortellini alla zucca, pumpkin gnocchi, pumpkin risotto with black truffles, roasted pumpkin, pumpkin gelato, pumpkin beer, fiori di zucca fritti, and fritelle di zucca! Mamma mia. Soooooo good. All of it home made. All of it very, very tasty (even if the tortellini is a bit sweet.)
And the pumpkin exhibits were also quite interesting. It's one of those times that I wish I had brought the big camera...but I didn't...not once, even. Sigh.
The Festa Della Zucca has, sadly, ended.
I think it's time to get it going in my kitchen.
First let me check for a can of Libby's.... said no one in this country. Ever!
Have a great weekend!
Pumpkin risotto with black truffles? Sigh!
ReplyDeleteI love how each season and vegetable or fruit requires a festival in Italy.
