Today we're headed to a Winter Solstice party at the home of friends; our fourth year in attendance, it's become part of our Christmas family tradition (at least until they move . . . as the American friends always eventually do.)
We'll decorate a tall pine tree with all sorts of goodies for the creatures who visit their yard. The young one and I made treats for this year's tree with over-baked dough balls, peanut butter, bird seed, and yarn.
We've also been reading Eve Bunting's Night Tree, a tradition we are borrowing from our friends, in preparation for Sunday, which will also include a candle-lit hike to a local cave. . . weather permitting.
That sounds like a wonderful way to celebrate the solstice.Love the idea of a candle lit hike. Stay warm!
