Every.Single.Time.
We head out for gelato, both Richard and I study the choices.
Every.Single.Time.
We select the Bacio.
Every.Single.Time.
Dark Chocolate and Hazelnut Goodness.
Every.Single.Time.
Both of us.

IDK. You might call that a "passion."

Bacio Gelato

This weekend we finally made Bacio gelato at home using this recipe.

I say

*Opps . . . just realized I posted this a day early. That's what waking up at 5 am will do to you.

  1. WOW! You made your own gelato! That's a whole new level of impressive. Did you have any trouble finding the ingredients? I thought gelato had raw eggs in it?

  2. It's called gelato in the Italian recipe, though I don't know what makes it gelato and not ice cream. It does call for one egg yolk -- tuorlo, it's called. (New vocab for me!) It is very, very good and easy, too! I have a mahcine.

  3. You are my soul sister. I live off of Bacio when we are in Itlay. I also like the torreno, but that one is hard to find. I thought the difference between icecream and gelato was the fat content in the milk. At least that was what Giada said. American icecream has eggs in it too though not necessary to make your own icecream at home.

  4. Love it, Kelleyn. I will now try Torreno, at least a taste, if I ever see it. This recipe include

    hazelnuts
    sugar
    heavy cream
    milk
1 egg yolk (with the possible addition of the white if liquid is needed)
    dark chocolate

    Ice cream, gelato? IDK.
    Excellent? You betcha!

  5. Oh boy, am I glad I do not live in Italy. I'd gain thousands of pounds eating gelato...

(I once had a passion for sweets, especially chocolate. It took me a year of constantly telling myself I hated sweets before I could get off it. It's all or nothing, I'm afraid.)

  10. @Dana and @likeschocolate.
Sorry but "torreno" doesn't exist. :)
On the other hand, the "gelato al torrone" is really good! ;)

  13. This sounds like something I would like to try!
One of our big malls has a gelato shop but I think they are more North Americanized flavours - Hazelnut is one of my favourites so I may try this at home.

  14. That looks so good, better than the ice cream I tried to make when I was younger that just melted everywhere.
