road trip | alpe di siusi

We had a fabulous three-day weekend in the Dolomites of Trentino-Alto Adige & I am thoroughly convinced that I am a mountain girl over a beach girl. Just photos for now ... leave a comment if you'd like travel details & I'll be happy to share our experience.

  1. I have been dying to go to the Dolomites for years. One of these days. It looks like you had a lovely time.

    1. It was lovely! We did feel as though we were in Germany (or Austria) more than Italy.

  2. Please do tell the name of the hotel. It looks so inviting.
I'm returning to Italy next year and plan to be in this region about Easter. This looks like just the spot to wake up to on EastercSunday morning!

    1. I'll try to create a post with some of the details. In case I don't have time...we stayed in Castelrotto at a hotel called Hotel Zum Wolf al Lupo. I would highly recommend it, mostly because of the EXTREMELY helpful proprietors.

    1. I guess I never knew what I was missing all these years that I've never come here! Funny how that works. A few summers ago we visited the Dolomites further east and they were awesome, too .... but this was just incredible, espeically the alpine meadow. Wow. Go if you ever get a chance.

  5. Beautiful photos Dana. My boys came back from tennis tournaments and training in Trentino claiming that they had to eat "inquietanti palle di toro", the delicious (to me) canederli you took a photo of, which I now know is not something I'll ever attempt to cook for the family :)

    1. Grazie! We loved the canederli, especially in brodo. It seemed the further into the mountains, the better the canederli. One night at dinner we were seated near a few Americans who were as equally unimpressed as your boys. I heard one describe it as "a wad of pizza dough with some spinach thrown in." Not quite the description the boys offered ... But not entirely different either.
