corner view :: am i an artist?

I've recently had a discussion on this very topic with a good friend who has clear ideas of what constitutes art. I happen to think that for most of us creative expression is far too personal to apply other people's constructs to it. I acknowledge that there is an accepted and learned technique or method, but I don't think art stops there...nor do writing or composing or gardening, for that matter. We can learn from the masters, but we do not each have to be a master to be considered an artist. Of course with those thoughts goes the notion that no art will engage all people. And how boring life would be if it did!

So, yes! Yes I am an artist! The middle carving is my latest little creative expression. Happy Halloween!
