Corner View :: Five Things about Me (Right Now)

1. I picked up my husband from Louis Armstrong International Airport late last night after a week apart.

2. The longer we are together, the more I miss him when we are separated.

3. I believe separation is good for us...in small doses.

4. This weekend we are separating from everyone else in the family to spend two nights, just the two of us, in New Orleans. This is equally good for us.

5. We will celebrate our ninth year of "wedded bliss" Saturday. We were married by an officious Italian man in a small government building in Pozzuoli in a translated ceremony. We are still not sure if that was entirely legal, but we do have a certificate with a stamp. Neither of us believes much in those official documents, anyway, especially for things like love and marriage.

  1. Your wedding was certainly gorgeous and romantic. Only you two and the Italians. This is great.

I wish you a nice time in America. New Orleans is certainly wonderful. I would like to see it someday.

  2. Husband and I lived apart due to jobs for 5 years. We saw each other every or every other weekend. By the 5th year I'd had enough of "separation in small doses" and he retired from his job and moved up to where my new job had taken me, which was back the place that was home to both of us. Savor that time alone together in New Orleans. Although, is one ever alone in New Orleans?!;>)

    1. I bet that was difficult! I'm surrounded by families of deployed soldiers and have gained great sympathy for their struggles of separation.

About NOLA...hmm...except for that anniversary worthy hotel room! Lol.

  3. Love the photo! I must admit that when I first started reading the first of the five, I thought you were going to say that you picked up your husband at the airport - like picking someone up at a bar :-) Have fun in New Orleans - one of my favorite cities, but I've not been there since Katrina. Drink a hurricane for me!

Hurricanes make my belly ache. I will have a sazerac in your honor ;)

    1. Neither of us is perfect by any sense...but maybe, just maybe, we are perfect for each other. Thanks!
