corner view :: travel

Slovenia | 2008

My wanderlust began in 2001 shortly after I moved to Italy. I realize that it seems the contrary should be true, but the desire to travel came after the move to Italy. It was the effect, not the cause.

Paris | 2011

I didn't even really understand it at first...I started the short trips here and there because it was the thing to do among the people I knew, and then the desire sprouted and eventually blossomed.

Now there just isn't enough time, kind of like great books.

Malta | 2008

I could create a laundry list of reasons why travel appeals to me, but nothing would be as important as this:

When the world opened to me through travel, my mind opened to the world.
Having an open mind is a very good thing. A very good thing, indeed.
It is the best place I have been and the best place I will ever go.

Cortona, Italy | 2010

Why do you like to travel? Where do you want to go next?

Introdacqua, Italy | Easter 2013

  1. You get around, but I bet it is hard sometimes because your family is so far away. I know that is always an issue for us because there isn't always extra money to go around. Our next big destination is Spain. my husband has a work conference their so all of his expenses will be paid for! Have a great week!

  2. Travel instantly means a holiday, a break from routine. A time to stop, to breathe, to experience a different life. A time to spend time with my husband and remember why I married him.
    We can 'travel' to the city of Melbourne, only 20 minutes from home for a luxury weekend, or travel our parents homeland, 24 hours away and very close to you. Our next destination is Venice in 3 weeks. For 20 days we will enjoy the NE of Italy and NW of Slovenia. I can't wait.

  6. OK, am I going crazy or did you add photos later to this post. Late last night when the post first appeared no photos displayed???? How wonderful that your family is coming your direction. We will be in Spain from the 16th of September till about the 24th. We will start in Barcelona and then move on to Madrid. It is going to be a little tricky since we have to bring Avery with us and we need to find a sitter for the rest of the kids back home. My mom isn't capable of watching them anymore and Frank's parents are going to Sicily at the same time, so they can't come from Germany. We have a couple of young couples at church who might be able to help us or a college kid. I am not going to miss this trip.
