holiday happenings

Giardini Salvi
She refused to go near them unless her father did as well.  Or maybe it was a plot with Pinocchio?

Giardini Salvi
Meat on a stick cooked outside by costumed citizens is always a good thing.

Enter the belly of the whale, if you dare!

She stood next to him  long enough for one shutter snap, and, then "Basta!"

I bribed her with food when it was all over. After about four bites, she was done.

Young One paid a very reluctant visit to some fariy tale characters and Babbo Natale last weekend in Vicenza's Giardini Salvi.  Volunteers from Città della Speranza, a Veneto-based non-profit organization dedicated to pediatric cancer research and care of patients and families, created a garden filled with scenes of popular fables and fairy tales. We met Pinocchio and Snow White . . . and did you see Hansel and Gretel inside the cage in the first picture? Young One remained burrrowed deep in my side throughout much of the stroll through the garden.

The Christmas season is in full swing in our household.  We are all pretty excited about Young One's first school choral concert Friday night and have plans that will keep us busy all weekend long, including this annual party we wouldn't miss and this show at the Teatro Comunale.  No worries . . . winter break has arrived!

Have a great weekend!

  1. How fun! To bad she wouldn't go near Santa, but my littlest will have nothing to do with him either. YummY!

  3. Thanks, Francesca.I've just taught myself and learned from students over time.I'm quite limited in my abilities, but I like to play around despite that and occasionally I'll create something nice. I'm really liking the new banner and look -- today.
