Cherry Love |
The cherries have connected us with neighbors we don't know so well, neighbors we greet with a smile but rarely converse with at length, neighbors who know the land & harness her offerings. This year the offering has been cherries.
So. Many. Cherries.
An Abundance to Share.

Cherry Jam Tart (Made with My Jam!) |
The recipe for the Torta, which is typical for this part of the country, is found in Lidia Cooks from the Heart of Italy and is another winner . . . could be because of my yummy cherry jam ;) She has it available online as well.
(Third time's a charm! One. Two. and Now Three. Enough with cherry posts, already. Okay. Agreed. Unless, of course, we share another cherry breakthrough in the paese.)

A happy week to you! This is Young One's final week of first grade... where, exactly, did that time go?
Now you´ve made me drool - love cherries! They are just as pretty to look at as sweet to eat, yum yum! :-)
ReplyDeleteSeriously the tart looks devine. I am coming to your house, or maybe you could just send me a little. I just bought some cherries to make a free hand pie. Yummy!
ReplyDeleteLove the torta! And loved 'seeing' you. Funny how the blog can be so revealing and annonymous all at the same time!
ReplyDeleteOh, I must come and visit you next year at this time!:) It's been a wonderful year for cherries, but ours got eaten within a few days by the greedy birds. We still have amarene, which are just as good in my opinion (my kids don't agree). I'm curious about that pasta frolla alla genovese, I never heard of it. Your cherry torta looks great.
ReplyDeleteThese pictures are amazing! I say, keep the cherry posts coming! :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures! That first one is truly amazing. I love these cherry posts. I told my mom about your Maker's Mark cherries, which I think is genius. We were just given some red currants from our neighbors. My mom and I have been researching recipes. We wanted something other than jam. Tomorrow we're making mini cakes and muffins with them. Glad you are enjoying the local harvest so much this year!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, everyone.
ReplyDeleteThe cherries are more plenitful this year than in year's past; it's been great!
Kelleyn -- do share your recipe on your blog, please!
Karen -- yes, so true. It was a leap for me to post a pic of myself.
Francesca -- funny you've never heard of that tort! I got the recipe from an "authentic" (American) Italian cookbook. The link to the English name (Cherry Jam Tart) is in the post -- she's calling it the fancy Italian name in her book. Italian & French = Fancy for us!
Emily -- I may have another cooking. We'll see ;)
Katy -- So happy to inspire! Ha!
BTW-- I didn't "invent" the cherry heart photo. I've seen versions fo it kicking around the web (esp. on Flickr) for some time. I just thought I'd add my version.
Have a great day!
D

ReplyDeletethose are beautiful cherries!! my kids love going cherry picking, however they usually end up eating as many as make it into the buckets :)
ReplyDeleteOh more cherries... I love it! Great pictures. Thanks for the recipe!
ReplyDeleteI said it once, I'll say it again...you're so lucky to have an abundance of cherries!! I love them, but they are always $5/lbs, so I rarely get any :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures! I just made a chocolate cherry cake for Bear's end of the school year party....I hope it makes it all the way there!

ReplyDeleteAlmost all of our cherries were eaten by the birds this year, but next year I'm going to have to net the tree, if only to make your lovely heart tart.
