Adorned with an electric light halo, she stands in the hallway leading to my daughter's classroom.
School finally started again here on Monday.
So far, so good.

  12. And I assume this is a public school? In Sicily, crucifixes and Madonnas in schools and other public places are becoming a bit controversial as immigrants move in. I'm not Catholic, but I like them--they're like icons of Italy to me rather than religious symbols.

  13. Thanks, friends.
@Jann. . . Well, actually, she attends a private Catholic school. Though, I have seen religious icons in public/government places here in the North. I, too, see it as a part of the cultural identity of the nation.
