corner view :: the colors of January

Monday I found a break in the incessant rains in these parts for a walk in the paese in a different area from my usual excursions but still within a few miles of our home. I went out in search of the "colors of January," expecting to find brown, brown, and more brown, with a touch of grey.

And there was certainly a fair share of shades of brown and grey, but a closer look quickly revealed much more green than I expected to see at this time of year.

And now I can't remember if this is normal, all this green, green grass, or if it's directly related to the incessant rains and warmer-than-usual temperatures.

But I do know that after taking in these views on foot, views that I normally only see from the car window, I will change the destination of some of my walks in the paese. Wouldn't you?

Corner View is a weekly appointment shared by people around the globe, an appointment started in the spring of 2009 by Jane in Spain and currently hosted by Francesca over at Fuori Borgo. We welcome you to join us.

  1. nice to think that CV took you to new directions! :)
it must be raining less there, because i haven't ventured out with my camera in so long ... the sheep lady up the road tells me that she's never cut grass for fodder in January before (and she's seen 80 winters).

    1. Many of the newer houses are painted in those bright colors. Although the photos don't show it, they sometimes outnumber the old stone places. It's quite a contrast.

  4. So pretty. You capture the feel of the country in your photos. I feel as if I could walk on the path...into the picture.
    Have a great day.

    1. It truly is lovely. Unfortunately, we are not big fans of the wine produced from these vines. The olive oil is superb.

  10. I seriously could move to Italy even if I will never speak the language.

    1. But you could learn quickly, I'm sure. Some days I still feel like I don't really speak the language, and in many ways I do not. I'm okay and always moving forward.

  13. The fields are so lovely. We can't see ours for the snow! The farm houses and church are so quaint and charming. I've concluded that that is largely the case with churches and farm houses regardless of the country. :>)
